Online Date Night Suggestions

When you’re in a long distance relationship, feeling connected can sometimes be a little more difficult than when you’re together in person. Maybe you feel like most of your time together is just watching a screen where your significant other is displayed, or that you don't have enough to say over the phone to keep the conversation alive. Date nights can be a great way to bring you and your significant other together for some quality time and make you feel closer. They often incorporate external sources to take the pressure off the attention required via video chatting, phone conversations...

Storytime: Coming to terms with my boyfriend having a female housemate….

So, this is something I’ve struggled with for about a year and I’m sure some of you may experience similar if your SO is in university or can’t afford to live alone and has a housemate of the gender you are. A little note: Vic (his housemate) identified as female when they met and moved in, but has preferred to use they/them pronouns for a few months. To make things clearer in this article, when referring to Vic alone, “they”/“them” will be in red and the plural version, talking about Vic and Z together, will stay in black. Vic has...

Coping and Mental Health in a LDR

Roughly 1 in 6 of us suffer with a mental health condition. Even more suffer without being fully diagnosed, and the proportions are even higher for millennials and Generation Y (which most of us in the LDR community belong to). As I wrote here in my blog, our generation are growing up amid economic decline, rising inequality, we’re under far more pressure than our parents and grandparents before us, and we feel so distant from the generations before us. It’s arguably why so many of our parents and elders judge our relationship choices. It’s also why there’s been a threefold increase...

Do’s & Don’ts of International Shipping

When you're mailing a package, there are many different services available to you, and tons of rules you need to follow depending on the countries involved. If it's your first time shipping to a different country, it could be a little overwhelming but it doesn't totally have to be!   DO: Check shipping restrictions. DON’T: Mail items that are illegal in your country, or the country you are shipping to. Shipping restrictions just mean that you are to follow custom laws and what each country deems appropriate. Prohibited items are all country specific, but a quick google search will help...

Now that we've explored how to get the cheapest tickets through a few little tweaks to your browsing habits, we can now explore where. How to Find the Cheapest Airline Tickets | Part One

Timing Absolutely Matters CheapAir.com conducted their own study in 2014 with 1.5 billion airfares and 4,986,522 trips, tracking the lowest ticket prices from 320 days in advance to 1 day in advance. What they found (shown in the graph below) was that the prime time to buy a plane ticket was anywhere between 27-114 days in advance. Moral of the story here is to not wait for last-minute deals and to buy your ticket 1-4 months in advance. However, don’t buy your ticket too early either. Buying more than 80 days in advance showed to be non-advantageous. Even I was surprised...

The Perks of a Long Distance Relationship

Of course you and I both know that distance isn’t easy whatsoever, and often you’ll get told that your relationship isn’t real because your significant other is so far away. It’s important that you try not to listen to the negativity and stigmas surrounding long distance relationships, and focus on the many benefits they provide. You treasure the time you have together Unlike most couples who see each other nearly every day, depending on the distance, LDR couples typically only see each other once every few months. When you visit one another, you try to squeeze as much love, fun,...

Telling People You’re in an LDR

Telling people you’re in an LDR can be really nerve-wracking, some people may be happy for you, even if they’re a little worried about the distance, and some may be dismissive or completely against it. I asked my SO how he told his parents and how they reacted, he said he was lucky because they asked him who he was constantly on the phone to and saw that he was happy, so they never really questioned the distance. My experience telling people was slightly different, though the topic came up in the same way. My mum was accepting of it,...
